We're Tobi and Michi. We build products for the moment after the last run — and we spent fifteen years practising how to celebrate that moment properly.
What started as a gift for friends now sits on the shelf in most of the Alps' best-known ski resorts.
You ride down the slope on your own. But up above, people sit in the lift and watch. Anyone carving past below has an audience — and for that moment, they're a bit of a hero.
Après-ski is where that feeling carries on together. Originally it was simply the short break at the mountain hut: skiing is hard work, so you sit down. Today it has become a reason of its own. That's exactly what we build our products for — so the moment everyone remembers that evening becomes visible.
What we're not: the crowd that only goes to the mountains to party. The sport comes first. Ischgl is famous for its nightlife and is at the same time a superb freeride region, if you know where to open it up. The same goes for Saalbach and the Zillertal. Both together — real skiing and a real celebration — is the point.
For fifteen years the five of us lived at the LiftlaOim on the Bucheckerweg up on the Zinnkopf, in the Chiemgau. The name of the alpine hut is no coincidence: there really was a ski lift there. First a Wankel-engine lift — a petrol engine the size of a rucksack with a steel cable that you clip into with your own handles and get pulled up, one of the last of its kind. It's in a museum today. After that we built ourselves a rope lift in the garden, plus a small fun park.
For birthdays, weddings and parties we gave away the same thing for years: a shotski. Back then still glasses glued onto an old ski. It went down better every single time than anything you can buy in a shop.
January 2020, ISPO Munich. We were there as product developers with something entirely different — the ShredRack, an inflatable roof rack — and won the ISPO Brandnew Award 2020 with it. On the stand lay a home-made shotski, 3D-printed, really just a way to pull people over. In the end the crowd came for the prototype. That was the moment it was clear this had to become a brand of its own.
After that came sketching, engineering, printing and testing — all the way to the 17th version of the binding, finally made by injection moulding. Two details stuck around that skiers still talk about: the DIN setting screw, which adjusts the tension just like on a real binding and holds the glass tighter or looser, and the ski brakes. Honestly placed, the setting screw is more of a gag than a function. But it's the proof that this thing was built by skiers.
Our first attempt was a kit: bindings and glasses separately, everyone builds their own ski. We learned two things. People didn't want to build anything, they wanted a finished product. And we didn't want to ship whole skis. Out of that came the modular shotski: modules you click together depending on the size of your group — four modules make exactly one metre. The modularity isn't a marketing idea, it's the answer to both problems at once.
Tobi is the engineer and product developer. The binding, the modularity and everything that has to click, hold and survive the dishwasher comes from him. He is also a professional skier, working as a freeskier, sports model and stuntman — hence the parties after competitions, the ski movie premieres and the glacier season openers, where the day was spent riding up top and the evening around a campfire down in the valley. model.tobideckert.de
Michi handles design and brand. Everything you see of Apres Allstars before you hold it in your hands comes from him: logo, packaging, the whole look.
What you see less of: this place is built like a trading business, not like a hobby. We set Apres Allstars up ourselves as e-commerce founders — shop, logistics, online marketing, dealer support, trade fairs. Today we ship to several European countries and work with ski resorts, hotels, hospitality and specialist sports retail. You'll find our products in Flachau, Kitzbühel, Ischgl and on the Arlberg, among others.
Apres Allstars is not our only project — we have started several, all under the same roof: Einfallsschmiede. The inflatable products around the ShredRack come from there as well, and so do the tools this shop runs on: inventory management, invoice processing, newsletter and chatbot, all built in-house instead of bought in. That we know the places we write about isn't a claim: both of us learned to ski as children, spent years on a Tirol or Salzburg season pass, and added Wengen, Les Deux Alpes, Serre Chevalier, Tignes and Livigno. For the season opener: Stubai, Hintertux, Kitzsteinhorn and Sölden.
We started very small: one web shop, everything packed and posted from home. A belated thank you here to our partners and flatmates for their patience — at one point there were 10,000 glasses and bindings stacked in our hallway.
Then you came along, and we had to learn to think bigger. For years the Caritas Wendelstein workshop in Rosenheim supported us with assembly and dispatch. We're grateful for that — without it the brand wouldn't have made it through the first winters.
Today production happens at the Pidinger Werkstätten der Lebenshilfe Berchtesgadener Land, a sheltered workshop for people with disabilities, a good half hour from us. That's where our bindings are assembled, the sets put together and your parcels packed. The team in the picture does exactly that — with a care you can see in the products.
We don't say this because it reads well. A workshop that works like this is simply the better manufacturing partner for us: short distances, people we know by name, consistent quality — and we can drive over any time and look at what's happening. That it also creates permanent jobs for people who have a hard time in the regular labour market is the part we're proudest of. A fun product and something meaningful don't rule each other out.

Die Teile sind der Hammer! Ich hab vier ShotSki Shot Gläser fest mit den Bindungen im Wohnmobil verbaut. So kann ich mit 3 Kumpels und Innen mein lecker Schnabbes genießen und nichts fliegt ummanand.
Hochwertige Party Gags. Die Stiefel sind sehr stabil und geben jeder Feier nochmal Schwung. Auch zum umhängen möglich und die Halterungen bestens dafür geeignet. An der Free in München auch persönlich getroffen. Nette Leute mit coolen Ideen
